Abstract :
Japan Hadron Accelerator Research Complex, J-PARC, is a world-class high-intensity proton accelerator complex with experimental facilities. Its construction started in 2001, and the phase-1 facilities were completed in the Japanese fiscal year 2008. The accelerator consists of the linac, the 3-GeV synchrotron, and the 50-GeV synchrotron. There are three experimental facilities, namely, the Materials and Life Science Experimental Facility, the Hadron Experimental Facility, and the Neutrino Experimental Facility. The first beams were delivered to all these facilities by April, 2009, that means the start of the operation of the facilities. In this article, an overview of the J-PARC facility will be made with forecasted physics output, with an emphasis on the activities at the Hadron Experimental Facility.
