Abstract :
The fluorescence kinetics of copolymers of 1-vinyl naphthalene and methyl methacrylate have been examined between 190 and 290 K. The monomer fluorescence decays fit well to a stretched exponential function, but not as well to specific functions assuming one-dimensional Electronic Energy Migration (EEM) without excimer dissociation. The stretched exponential fitting parameters can be related to parameters from steady-state fluorescence measurements which suggest that EEM and excimer dissociation are controlling factors in the fluorescence kinetics.
