Abstract :
An extended dynamic J integral for functional graded materials (FGM) is presented in this paper. It is then investigated by a coupled finite element and element-free Galerkin method in cases of stationary and propagating cracks. Numerical results show that the extended J varies rationally with time and crack propagation and can be used to describe the dynamic fracture problem in FGM.
