Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the computational design of a compensator for suppression of vibrations for a panel in flutter conditions. The problem is casted into a first order form. Results from infinite dimensional systems are used to design feedback control laws. The feedback loop includes an observer design to estimate the states on line. Numerical results are presented that indicate the convergence of the feedback control functional gains and the estimator dynamics. The effectiveness of the compensator is studied for control of a one-dimensional panel (beam) as well as a two-dimensional panel (plate). Numerical results indicate that the compensator can effectively be used to suppress the panel vibrations when it is under flutter conditions.
