Abstract :
The influence of conductive carbon additives on the electrochemical stability of PEO-based composite electrodes is addressed in the present work. The study was performed to explain the very poor performance of lithium metal, polymer electrolyte batteries with 4 V cathode materials. It was found that the anodic stability of the PEO-based electrolyte in contact with carbon additives is much lower than what is usually obtained by simple measurements on inert metallic electrodes.
