Abstract :
The spectroscopic properties of Ba 6p3/2nd (J = 1,3) autoionizing states have been systematically studied, using the isolated core excitation scheme with a proper polarization configuration of lasers. Energy levels and widths of 6p3/2nd states with n = 16–31, excited from 6snd 3D2 Rydberg states and those with n = 16–26, excited from 6snd 1D2 Rydberg states are reported, most of which are obtained for the first time. Most spectra show the two-peak profiles, where the J = 1 and J = 3 features can be distinguished. The MQDT is employed to calculate the spectra, which in general, are in accordance with the experimental ones. Examination of saturation spectra manifests the admixture between 6p3/2nd J = 1 and 6p3/2ns J = 1 series.
