The Relationship between marital satisfactions of the parents with creativity of gifted students

The aim of the current research was to investigate the relationship between marital satisfaction of the parents and creativity of gifted students. In order to examine research hypothesis 330 students 164 boys, 166 girls have selected of Tehran schools by clustering random sampling. Raven’s Progressive Matrices Test, and Torrance Test of Creative Thinking - figural form B-were administered among students and parents completed the Afrooz Marital Satisfaction Scale. All scales have reported validity and reliability which is necessary for psychological questionnaires. Using multiple linear regression analysis, it was found that some components of marital satisfaction of the parents were significant predictors on children’s creativity. Based on marital satisfaction variables, 41% of creativity in children predicted by marital satisfaction of the parents. Marital satisfaction of parenting, supportive - social, emotional and problem - solving satisfaction accounted for the most variance in childrenʹs creativity. This study provides initial evidence of the importance of marital satisfaction of the parents to creativity of gifted students. It can be concluded that marital satisfaction of the parents is associated with creativity of gifted students.
