Abstract :
A spinning sky lantern was called as a gyratory lantern. The convective heat transfer from the surface of the gyratory lantern were investigated experimentally in this paper. Quantities obtained include rotative speeds, tangential forces, temperature distribution and local average convective heat transfer coefficients. Results show that a great amount of heat transfer from the middle part but only a small amount of heat transfer from the bottom part of the lantern. It also indicates that the rotative speeds of the gyratory lantern increase with the exhaust-opening, the spinning gyratory lantern stir the ambient cold air to accelerate the convective heat transfer, therefore, the convective heat transfer can be enhanced by moving the gyratory lantern quickly.
