Abstract :
A fouling evaluation system has been designed and constructed to facilitate simulation of conditions found in the heating plant of Mutah University. The system has a great flexibility, because of the several parameters that may be varied, to simulate an actual process. These parameters include ΔT, heat flux, liquid type, liquid velocity, and metallurgy of heat transfer surfaces. Hence, allowing the simulation of conditions found in variety of industrial heat transfer equipment subject to fouling.
The system provides a quantitative information of liquid-side fouling on heat transfer surfaces, and its effect on thermal efficiency. Output data is significantly important for the design, and for formulating operating and cleaning schedules, of pertinent equipment.
