  • Abstract
    This work proposes a cost-efficient algorithm for the phase change heat conduction problems, which predicts and corrects of the temperature and liquid fraction for the phase changing cells during the computation and is also accompanied with a pseudo Newton-Raphson algorithm. Although the proposed algorithm based on the enthalpy formulation is applied only to the phase change front layer during the calculation, it improves the convergence rate significantly. Three one- and two-dimensional phase change problems are introduced to show the effectiveness of the algorithm. This algorithm is readily expandable to other numerical schemes devised for computational efficiency.
