Abstract :
The paper studies the effects of foliar application biostimulators (Bio-algeen S90 and
Biotrissol T) on the growth, yielding and quality of raw material of motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca
L.). A 0.5% solution of the preparations was sprayed over growing plants (twice in the first
year of vegetation and three times in the second and third years). Every time the quantity of the
solution was 400 dm3×ha-1 (control object without spraying). Plants were cut at anthesis: in the
first year of vegetation – once, while in the second and third years – twice. Both preparations
positively affected the growth of plants (height, number of stems and branches) resulting in a
significant increase of herb yields in the first and second years of vegetation (on average, 60%).
Effects of both biostimulators in the third year were much smaller and not explicit. In general,
Bioalgeen had a greater influence on the growth and yields of plants. As regards the quality of the
raw material (evaluated by contribution of little value stems and content of flavonoids), neither of
the preparations had a marked effect; nevertheless, they brought about an increase of the theoretical
yield of flavonoids.
