Abstract
It was shown that addition of Pt(Pd) and Cs^+ to WO3 and MoO3 increases their catalytic activity in the oxidation of CO, at the same time there was a considerable broadening of the low temperature region of the reaction. It was established that formation of an active surface occurs as a result of partial reduction of the molybdenum and tungsten oxides. It is proposed that the reaction occurs at the phase boundary between Pt(Pd) and W and Mo oxides containing oxygen vacancies.
