Abstract
This paper presents two damping algorithms for explicit dynamics computations. These algorithms are intended to provide damping for the high-frequency structural responses that occur under low pressures. One of the algorithms uses a dimensionless form of the Navier–Stokes viscosity and the other uses a velocity smoothing technique. Both algorithms can be used to effectively damp the high-frequency oscillations. Examples are provided to illustrate the effects of both algorithms.
