Spectroscopic investigation of a 1.55 μm emission band in Dy3+-doped CsCdBr3 and KPb2Cl5 single crystals

New emissions are reported around 1.55 μm in Dy3+-doped CsCdBr3 and KPb2Cl5 single crystals. They are assigned to 6F5/2→6H11/2 transitions. They can be pumped directly around 800 nm and exhibit emission cross-sections of the order of 7×10−21 cm2.
