Excitons in dendrimers: optical absorption and energy transport

The optical absorption in dendrimers of various sizes is investigated. We include the interaction between electronic degrees of freedom of the molecules via transfer integrals and with vibrational states in a first approach via a stochastic model. We show that rim states dominate the absorption spectra, that the electronic excitation energy is concentrated on peripheric molecules, and that the energetically lowest absorption peak is redshifted with increasing dendrimer size.
