Abstract
We report the development of a light source delivering triggered single photons, based on a single InAs quantum dot embedded in a micropillar cavity. The single photon emission emerging from a single quantum dot is characterized by a strong antibunching in photon correlation measurements. We also demonstrate that an efficient collection of the single photon train can be achieved by exploiting the coupling of the emission into high Q modes of a micropillar cavity. Moreover, we show that the coupling to polarized cavity modes permits quantum state preparation (same spatial mode and same polarization) of the single photons.
