Abstract :
On the 17th of January 2002, Roman Ivanovich Personov, one of the founding fathers of site-selective spectroscopy, passed away. The organizers of HBSM’03 asked colleagues of Roman Personov to prepare the present eulogy, which M. Orrit pronounced during the meeting in replacement of Yu.G. Vainer.
