Abstract :
A new red phosphor, La2SrB10O19:Eu3+ (LSB:Eu) has been prepared by solid-state reaction. The excitation and emission spectra of LSB:Eu have been measured. There exist two strong absorption bands at around 395 nm (7F0–5L6) and 465 nm (7F0→5D2), which are consistent with the output wavelengths of GaN-based LEDs. The dominant transition of Eu3+ in LSB is the electric dipole transition 5D0–7F2 with the red emission around 616 nm. Eu3+ ions occupy both La3+ and Ca2+ sites in LSB. The optimum concentration for Eu3+ in LSB is 30 mol%.
