Abstract
The production capacity of ozone using the surface discharge method can be improved by using auxiliary electrodes driven by a special pulse type power supply which has two variable high voltage outputs, allowing the phase difference between the two outputs to be varied. The present investigation shows the ozone production capacity with different electrode arrangements. The novel type electrode arrangement extends the streamer of the surface discharge that forms a special volume discharge. Ozone production has been investigated at the different geometrical arrangement, and with different power supply settings. These experiments clearly show that changes to the production capacity of ozone occur over a wide range—through the variation of the geometry and the setting of the power supply, and that the production capacity of ozone can be more effective than the simple surface discharge method. It was also found that the phase difference had a significant influence on ozone production, and that it is at the maximum when the two voltages are at the opposite phase. The investigation includes the measurement of the energy consumption.
