Abstract
This paper describes an algorithm to simulate the dynamics of a dipolar bead in an electrophoretic spherical cavity in the presence of mobile counter ions and applied fields. The model includes consideration of form drag and viscous damping, both corrected for wall effects, and a particle model of the ions in the cavity. Several levels of approximation are implemented to expedite the overall computation. As a particular application, bead dynamics in the presence of an alternating external field has been investigated as functions of applied voltage, switching frequency, and solvent conductivity.
