Abstract :
Atmospheric electric field distribution in the surroundings of building with lightning protection rod with and without horizontal circular loop is determined in this paper. Lightning protection rod having a circular loop is Serbian national standard (JUS N. B4. 811). The effective height of the building with lightning protection rod, as an important parameter for defining protection area, is also determined. Using the results it is noticed that lightning protection rod having a horizontal circular loop (JUS N. B4. 811) is better than Franklinʹs lightning protection rod, with equal height, for protecting buildings.
