Abstract :
Some physical properties of moth gram were determined in moisture content range of 7·33–33·57% d.b.. For this moisture the average length, width and thickness of moth gram increased by 9·63, 25·0 and 5·76%, respectively. The grain size, sphericity, grain volume and thousand grain mass increased from 3·67 to 4·16 mm, 0·738 to 0·762, 23·43 to 34·22 mm3 and 33·26 to 40·52 g, respectively, due to change in the moisture content. Results showed that the bulk density and true density decreased from 866 to 688 kg m−3 and 1380 to 1192 kg m−3 whereas, the bulk porosity increased from 37·25 to 42·28%, respectively, as the moisture content increased from 7·33 to 33·57% d.b. The terminal velocity and angle of repose increased linearly from 9·2 to 11·7 m s−1 and 25·78 to 32·61 °, respectively. The static coefficient of friction varied from 0·178 to 0·646 over different material surfaces in the specified moisture level.
