Abstract :
Transparent YAG ceramics were fabricated by a novel process in which the yttria precursor and alumina precursor were synthesized separately, and then mixed through ball milling method. YAG powders were obtained by calcining the mixed precursors at 1350 °C for 2 h. YAG ceramics were fabricated via vacuum sintering at 1750 °C for 20 h. The transmittance of YAG ceramics fabricated was about 50.9–60.3% over the wavelength range of 200–1100 nm, and the average grain size was about 10 μm.
