Abstract :
Mono, di and trivalent ions containing hydroxyapatite of the formula BiNaCa3(PO4)3OH has been synthesized and the compoundʹs catalytic activity in three component Biginelli condensation was studied. The compound was characterized by powder XRD, FT-IR, SEM and TGA/DTA techniques. The unit cell dimensions of the compound were determined to be a = 9.412(2) Å, C = 6.92(2) Å and the unit cell volume is 530.9 Å3. The substituted hydroxyapatite phase showed enhanced reactivity in the one pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one by Biginelli reaction and resulted in an increased yield of the product.
