Abstract
Glass-ceramic materials of the SrOBaONb2O5B2O3SiO2 system, with various amounts of CeO2 added, have been prepared by conventional melt casting followed by controlled crystallization. The effect of CeO2 addition on crystallization kinetics has been explored for dielectric applications. The addition of CeO2 to the glass-ceramics decreases the activation energy of crystallization and enhances the dielectric constant as well as breakdown strength remarkably. Glass-ceramic with a dielectric constant of 49, breakdown strength of 1250 kV/mm and energy storage density of 3.39 J/cm3 could be achieved, so this is promising in high energy storage density dielectrics.
