Abstract :
The material YBaCo3ZnO7+δ (YBCZ) was successful synthesized and YBCZ–Sm2O3 was primarily used as the cathode materials for proton-conducting SOFCs. The electrochemical performances of the single cell consisting of a BaZr0.1Ce0.7Y0.2O3−δ (BZCY7)–NiO anode substrate, a BZCY7 electrolyte membrane and an YBCZ–Sm2O3 cathode layer, was tested from 600 to 700 °C with humidified hydrogen (~3% H2O) as a fuel and static air as an oxidant. An open-circuit potential of 0.996 V and a maximum power density of 270 mW cm−2 at 700 °C were obtained. The measured results were almost the same with the cell with cathode YBCZ+BaCeO3 and much higher than the cell with YBCZ+Al2O3 cathode.
