Abstract
Effects of in situ grown carbon nanofibers (CNFs) on the oxidation behavior and residual mechanical properties of C/C composites are discussed. Results show that CNFs grown on the surface of carbon fibersfiber can decrease the mass loss of C/C composites after a short-time oxidation. Moreover, the CNF–C/C composite after oxidation still has higher residual flexural strength compared with the C/C composite, due to the little mass loss and the oxidation inhibition of carbon fibersfiber and the fiber/matrix interface.
