Abstract
Inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) is responsible for a rate-limiting reaction in the de novo biosynthesis of guanine ribonucleotides. Using a RT-PCR approach, one cDNA encoding IMPDH was identified from peach (Prunus persica L. Batsch cv. Feicheng). Similarity analysis indicated high homology of peach IMPDH with the IMPDH in other organisms. RT-PCR results indicate expression of the IMPDH gene in leaves and fruits of peach.
