Abstract
There is a little available information about effects of heavy metal ions on greening process in angiosperms. The influence of Cd2+, Fe3+ and Cr2O72− ions on early steps of deetiolation process in wheat (Triticum aestivum) was investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy. Experiments were performed on prolamellar bodies (PLB) isolated from etiolated wheat leaves and the following aspects were studied: (i) stability of the phototransformable Pchlide pool (Pchlide655); (ii) the efficiency of Pchlide to chlorophyllide (Chlide) photoreduction; (iii) spectral transformation of the newly formed Chlide.
