Abstract :
In this study, refinery storm water run-off is examined for its ability to induce mixed-function oxidase (MFO) activity in rainbow trout. Induction was shown at dilutions of 10% effluent, representing total PAH concentrations in the <1 ppb range. Data collected over a 23-day period indicated two phases of increased MFO activity. Postulations regarding temporal MFO induction are made.
