Abstract
Chemical investigation of Mycale mytilorum afforded four new and two known compounds, of which 5-octadecylpyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde () and (6′Z)-5-(6′-heneicosenyl) pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde (, congeners of alkylpyrrole carboxadehyde), (2S,3R,4E)-1,3-dihydroxy-2-[(heneicosanoyl) amino]-4-heneicosene (, sphingolipid) and 2-methyl-3-(4,5,7-trihydroxy-8-hydroxymethyltetrahydro-6H-4-pyranyl)-2-propenoic acid (, tetrahydropyran derivative) are new, and batylalcohol () and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid () are known. The toxicity and antidiabetic activity of 5-octadecylpyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde were evaluated for the first time. Also, compounds were studied for the antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activity.
