Abstract :
By using the physical jet deposition technique, we have fabricated thin films of the star-like C60(CH3)x(PAN)x copolymer with different PAN chain lengths. Femtosecond optical heterodyned optical Kerr effect of these films was measured. All the copolymer films show a very fast response under ultrafast excitation. From the measurement, third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility of the copolymer film was found improved as compared to that of pure PAN and the fullerene molecule which resulted from a new lower excited state and the charge transfer process in the copolymer.
