Abstract :
The luminescence properties of Ce3+ ions in calcium halophosphates Ca5(PO4)3X (X=F, Cl) has been studied. The excitation bands of Ca5−2xCexNax(PO4)3Cl are shifted to lower energies comparing with Ca5−2xCexNax(PO4)3F. Codoping with Na+ ions results in a remarkably increase of the luminescence intensity of Ce3+-doped Ca5(PO4)3X apatites due to the charge compensation.
