Abstract :
A novel acyclic copper complex of Cu(L)(H2O) (H2L=N,N′-1,2-ethanediyl-bis[N-(4-methoxyphenyl)methylglycine]) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by means of X-ray single crystal diffraction. Interestingly, this Cu(II) complex has been found to cleave supercoiled DNA (pBR 322) to nicked and linear forms in aerobic condition.
