Hydrothermal synthesis of a novel three-dimensional complex with strong blue luminescent properties

Reaction of benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) with Ag2O under hydrothermal condition gave a novel complex [Ag4(HBTC)2] (1). The X-ray crystal structural analysis indicates that 1 is a 3D coordinated framework, which contains zigzag Ag chains. Fluorescent analyses of 1 show intense blue photoluminescence at 453 nm in the solid state and may be potential candidates for photoactive material.
