Abstract :
A series of octa(4-X-substituted-phenyl)-porphyrazine–magnesium have been synthesized and the photophysical parameters were determined using steady state and time-resolved absorption as well as emission spectroscopy. It was found that the triplet quantum yield and photosensitizing properties are enhanced as the periphery of the phenyl ring is substituted with heavier halogen atom. These compounds could be promising candidates for photodynamic therapy.
