Abstract
The synthesis, chemical and photochemical properties of cis-[RuII(bpy)2L(NO0)](PF6)2 (L = pyridine, 4-picoline or 4-acetylpyridine) in physiological solution are reported. The photolysis in the visible region of cis-[RuII(bpy)2(4-pic)(NO0)]2+ produces nitric oxide and cis-[RuII(bpy)2(4-pic)(H2O)]2+, suggesting the possibility to use such nitrosyl ruthenium complexes photochemically in therapy.
