Abstract
Reaction of two molar equivalents of 1,3-bis(2′-pyridylimino)isoindoline (indH) and a solution of Fe(ClO4)2 in acetonitrile resulted in the formation of a stable homoleptic iron(II) complex without additional solvent coordination. The composition and molecular structure of Fe(ind)2 (2) was fully determined by IR, UV–vis, Mössbauer and X-ray crystal analysis. The complex has an octahedral FeN6 core with high-spin iron(II).
