Abstract :
A novel two-dimensional bimetallic complex [Zn(HPBIM)2(H2O)2Mo6O20] (1) (HPBIM, 2-(3-pyridyl)-benzimidazolium) based on image infinite chain has been hydrothermally synthesized. X-ray structure analysis has revealed that the title complex is constructed from a 2D bimetallic oxide network image with the protonated 2-(3-pyridyl)benzimidazole groups projecting into the interlamellar region. The linking mode of molybdenum oxide chain and {ZnN2O4} octahedron leads to the formation of paddle-wheel shaped holes in the 2D layer.
