Abstract :
A 1D chain Cu(II) complex: [Cu(2-Clnic)(μ1,1-N3)(CH3OH)]n(1) (2-Clnic=2-chloronicotinate) has been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, X-ray crystal diffraction and magnetic properties. Single-crystal structural analysis shows that complex 1 consists of 1D Cu(II) chains containing threefold bridging ligands, one μ1,1-azido, one (syn–syn) 2-chloronicotinate and one methanol molecule. The magnetic susceptibilities of 1 has been investigated, indicating strong ferromagnetic interactions with J = 81.22 cm−1.
