Abstract :
The synthesis, structural and solution properties of a novel cobalt aquo-pyridine complex [Co(nta)(py)(H2O)] (nta = nitrilotriacetate) are reported. Characterisation of the new complex was performed by 1H NMR, FTIR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Substitution kinetics with NCS− ions over a large pH range indicates that pyridine induces a small cis effect.
