Abstract :
A new metal–organic coordination polymer (H3O)[Cu3(tbip)3.5(H2O)2]·H2O (1) (H2tbip = 5-tert-butyl isophthalic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR, TG analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal that 1 features a 2D chiral kagomé layer structure. Two copper ions are linked by four carboxylate ligands to form a Cu2 paddlewheel building block. The Cu2 paddlewheel building blocks as the 4-connected nodes, were furthermore connected by tbip ligands to form a 2D kagomé topological network. Interestingly, the compound 1 possesses chirality, which is less reported in kagomé lattice. In addition, the magnetic properties have been also studied.
