Abstract
Novel molecular Ni(II) complex [Ni(H2O)4(2-Me-Snic)2]·4H2O has been synthesized and structurally characterized. It refers to an elongated tetragonal bipyramid for which a positive zero-field splitting is confirmed by magnetometry. The complex matches the magnetostructural D-correlation for hexacoordinate Ni(II) complexes with moderate structural and magnetic anisotropy Dstr = + 8.60 pm, Dmag = + 4.39 cm− 1.
