Abstract
The reaction of [Re(CO)5X] (where X=Cl or Br) with the bidentate imine donor ligand 2-(2-pyridyl)benzothiazole (N∩N) afforded complexes of the type fac-[Re(N∩N)(CO)3X] (1, X=Cl; 2, X=Br). Dehalogenation of complex 1 or 2 was realized by reaction with silver trifluoromethanesulfonate (silver triflate) to give 3; subsequent reaction of 3 with acetonitrile gave [Re(N∩N)(CO)3(CH3CN)][CF3SO3 −].
