Synthesis and characterization of tetraalkylammonium thiomolybdates and thiotungstates in aqueous solution

In this work is reported a method for the preparation of (R4N)2MS4 (R=Pr, Oct and M=Mo, W) in aqueous solution. The rapid substitution of (NH4) salts with [(Pro)4N] and [(Oct)4N] salts, via reaction with (Pro)4NBr and (Oct)4NBr is described. Thiomolybdates and thiotungstates characterization was performed using FT IR, UV–Vis spectroscopies and thermogravimetric analysis (TG-DTA).
