Abstract :
An unprecedented hybrid vanadate, {MnII(2,2′-bpy)}[{VVO2(2,2′-bpy)}(VVO3)(VV2O6)], has been hydrothermally synthesized from the reaction of V2O5, 2,2′-bipyridine, and MnCl2. It has been characterized by IR, XPS, TGA and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of the title compound is constructed from left-handed and right-handed V–O helical chains linked through modified binuclear {Mn(2,2′-bpy)VVO4(2,2′-bpy)} moieties into a double helical structure.
