Abstract :
The peroxo complexes formed by vanadium (V) in the presence of rac- or S -3-phenyllactic acid as heteroligand, M2[V2O2(O2)2(rac -3-phlact)2] · n H2O (M+ = K+ (1), View the MathML sourceNMe4+ (3), View the MathML sourceNBu4+ (6)), M2[V2O2(O2)2(S -3-phlact)2] · n H2O (M+ = K+ (7), View the MathML sourceNH4+ (8), View the MathML sourceNMe4+ (9), View the MathML sourceNEt4+ (10), View the MathML sourceNPr4+ (11), View the MathML sourceNBu4+ (12)), (NH4)4[V2O2(O2)2(R-3-phlact)2][V2O2(O2)2(S-3-phlact)2] · 2H2O · 2CH3OH · 2H2O2 (2), (NEt4)(NH4)3[V2O2(O2)2((R-3-phlact)2][V2O2(O2)2(S-3-phlact)2] · 6H2O (4) and (NPr4)(NH4)3[V2O2(O2)2(rac-3-phlact)2]2 · 7H2O (5) were isolated from H2O/methanol solutions. All complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–Vis and 51V NMR spectroscopies. The molecular structure of (NEt4)(NH4)3[V2O2(O2)2(R-3-phlact)2][V2O2(O2)2(S-3-phlact)2] · 6H2O (4) was determined by X-ray crystallography. The complex crystallizes as racemic compound with alternating [V2O2(O2)2(R-3-phlact)2]2− and [V2O2(O2)2(S-3-phlact)2]2− anions in the structure. Coordination geometry around the central vanadium atoms is pentagonal pyramidal, which is typical for hexacoordinate oxoperoxovanadium (V) complexes.
