Abstract :
The Cooperative Research Centre for Advanced Composite Structures (CRC-ACS) was established in 1991 to provide an Australian focus for the development of advanced technologies that will foster growth of an efficient and globally competitive Australian composites industry. This is achieved by the conduct of research and development programs on the design, manufacture, test and supportability of advanced composite structures. International alliances have been established with organisations in Europe, USA, Japan and New Zealand to complement the network of Australian organisations working together in support of these objectives. The paper gives an overview of the development of simulation and design methodologies and manufacturing processes that form part of the advanced composites research activities undertaken within the CRC-ACS aimed at enhancing the potential for advanced composites structures applications.
