Abstract :
This paper describes an easy-to-use and accurate method to calculate some of the thermophysical properties of aqueous solutions which are used as secondary refrigerants. This method is based on the correction of the ideal behaviour of aqueous solutions by excess functions. This method allows to determine the following properties: freezing points, densities, heat capacities, thermal conductivities and dynamic viscosities. As an illustration, it is applied to aqueous solutions of (i) ethyl alcohol, (ii) ammonia, (iii) sodium chloride, (iv) ethylene glycol and (iii) propylene glycol.
