Abstract :
Strontium, in relatively large amounts, is one of the fission products produced during nuclear fuel irradiation, and this makes the properties of strontium compounds of interest to researchers. Strontium uranate (SrUO4) may be formed in the mixed oxide fuel irradiated to high burn-up. A bulk specimen of SrUO4 was prepared and several of its thermophysical and mechanical properties were examined. The thermal conductivity was evaluated from the thermal diffusivity, bulk density and heat capacity values. The relationship between some properties of SrUO4 and those of another strontium ternary oxide was studied.
